Valencia by Bike: The Best Urban Routes to Discover the City at Your Own Pace

Valencia is not just the city of light and flowers; it is, above all, the city of bicycles. With more than 200 kilometers of bike lanes and completely flat terrain, cycling has become the favorite way for locals and visitors to explore its neighborhoods.

If you are staying in one of our Monlar apartments, you already know that our philosophy is to put "Valencia at your fingertips." And there is no better way to reach every corner than on two wheels. Here we present the best urban routes to enjoy the city like a true Valencian.

1. The Green Lung: Route through the Turia Garden

This is the quintessential route. The old Turia riverbed is now a linear park of almost 10 kilometers that crosses the city from west to east without crossing a single traffic light.

  • The route: You can start from the Monlar Campanar area and cycle towards the sea.

  • What to see: You will pass under historical and modern bridges, see the Palau de la Música, and culminate at the spectacular City of Arts and Sciences.

  • Monlar Tip: Make a stop at Gulliver Park if you are traveling with family; it's a unique experience.

2. From the Historic Center to the Sea Breeze

This route combines the charm of the past with the modernity of the Mediterranean. Valencia has made a great effort to connect the heart of the city with its beaches through safe bike lanes.

  • The route: Leave your apartment and head towards Plaza de la Virgen, cycle down Calle de la Paz, and look for the connection to Avenida del Puerto.

  • What to see: The Central Market, the Silk Exchange (Lonja de la Seda), and finally, the Valencia Marina and Malvarrosa Beach.

  • Monlar Tip: When you reach the port, walk along the breakwater to feel the sea breeze and finish with a fresh horchata overlooking the sea.

3. Route through the Most Soulful Neighborhoods: Ruzafa and El Carmen

If you are staying in Monlar Ruzafa, you are already in the epicenter of design and gastronomy. But Valencia has much more to offer if you venture into its narrow streets.

  • The route: Explore the streets of Ruzafa with its colorful facades and cross the center towards the El Carmen neighborhood.

  • What to see: Urban art (graffiti) in El Carmen, the Torres de Quart and Serranos, and hidden small squares.

  • Monlar Tip: As these are narrower streets, cycle calmly and take the opportunity to "get lost." It's the best way to find those specialty coffee shops we love so much.

Practical Tips for Cyclists in Valencia

To make your experience perfect, keep these details in mind:

  1. Valenbisi: If you don't have your own bike, the public rental service is excellent and has stations near all Monlar accommodations.

  2. Regulations: Always cycle in the bike lane or on designated streets. It is forbidden to ride on the sidewalk.

  3. Security: Valencia is safe, but always use strong locks if you decide to park your bike to enter a museum or restaurant.
